Steve Bramson is an Emmy-winning composer and a descendant of a family of accomplished musicians. His distinguished 40-year career in Los Angeles has produced evocative and expressive music for film and television, including Apollo 13, James and the Giant Peach, and The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. He earned a Master in Music from the Eastman School of Music with additional studies at Juilliard and SUNY Purchase.
As the recipient of the 2025 Tulipán Art & Culture Award, Steve will develop CLICK! A Kertész Opera, a one-act opera inspired by the life and work of pioneering Hungarian photographer André Kertész. The score, subtly influenced by Hungarian folk music and Béla Bartók, reflects Kertész’s vision and artistic legacy, while bringing his story to the stage for new audiences.
With the opera currently in its final stages of development, Steve will use this support to complete the score, coordinate production, and oversee the premiere performance at Eastman Opera Theatre in Rochester, NY. Through this project, he continues to explore the intersections of Hungarian cultural heritage, music, and storytelling for contemporary audiences.
